Model Approval

Fire-fighting products are very important for protecting the life and properties of people and nation from fire. As such, quality of the fire-fighting products must be assured in full scope. KFI is authorized for the responsibility of quality verification of such products. The fire-fighting products in accordance with the Article 37, Enforcement Decree of Installation, Maintenance, and Safety Control of Fire-Fighting Systems Act can be sold or used after obtaining model certificate and product inspection by KFI. Model or type approval is a kind of inspection conducted to define the model of a fire-fighting product. The inspection comprises the model inspection to verify that the configuration, structure, material, composition and performance of the product meet the Standard for Model Approval notified by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the audit on the test installation of the applicant. The product and manufacturer which pass these requirements will be assigned with a model approval number.

Good Quality Certificate System

Since fire-fighting products are very important for the protection of life and properties of people, they must be tested prior to distribution and use in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations. However, since most of fire-fighting products are not selected by the end user but purchased and installed by the constructor, lower-priced products are preferred. As such, the manufacturers are not positive in quality improvement and product development. This system tests, compares and publicize the quality levels of the manufactures and products to promote quality competitiveness and encourage quality improvement by granting support to good quality products and their manufacturers.

Benefits
Support from KFI:
  • Support for product commercialization and system activation of NEMA
  • Discount in fire-fighting product inspection fee(10%)
  • Advanced issuance of product inspection certificate
